You can beat this by using $q instead of $s. In theory, it should
contain the same info that was in the LATEST created $s. If $s is
empty on "R" or "BACK", the last $q is still there.
Theory isn't quite perfect as it is sometimes formatted differently.: (

The $s parameter is created from the contents of the form after the
submit (or whatever) button is pushed.
Exactly when timewise, I can't say without checking the source.

If you mean placing part of one variable in $s when the form is blank, it 
seems like it WOULD be, but again, let me try a few things first.
