Sam H. asked: >Is that another reason why MicroSoft Word is such a bad word processor? >Will using MicroSoft to open a MicroSoft Word document default to run >all included macros without asking? Which word processors do you know >of are so defectively designed? Word doesn't do that. What word does is the following: 1. Check for an "autoexec" script 2. Run it if macros are allowed to run However, for some reason in earlier version Microsoft had the bright idea that one could disable the check in script - and thus viruses could spread. I think Microsoft has fixed this now, but now Outlook is the prime target since it can do much more damage. One way to be more safe against spreading macro viruses in Word is to writeprotect the file normal.dot. Or why not even copy a backup onto it on each bootup or startup of Word? //Bernie
