The CUTCP telnet client that comes with arachne, supports scripting with
a relatively simple script language. Therefore, yes you can automate
a telnet session with a script to telnet to a remote host and, for instance,
upload or download files with ftp. In fact, I wrote such scripts and do
this all the time. I also have a script that automatically dowloads messages I
select while running pine From my remote Unix shell host to my remote
Unix mail host -- to my pc.
