Note: I do not have the personal space on this system to store much of
the files. I'm authorized only 50Mb on my ISP servers.

HOWEVER, if others have the ability to store things, I *can* GET things!
It would be up to whomever was doling out the storage tasks [to avoid
duplication of effort, something has to be done to manage this] to tell
the persons what they are responsible for ... then that person can let
me know the URL for ftp and I can put my cable modem to work. From
there it would be a matter of bput to a special page in website, and the
individual doing the storage could take the files down as they had time.
I promise that my ISP's servers are faster than many of the college
servers which currently mirror simtel files.

If, however, people see that as a waste of time, I won't bother. But I
think the big thing is to grab from the servers what can be grabbed,
store it where we can on servers, and then arrange permanent storage
with a little more room to breathe. I wouldn't expect one person to
pull 50Mb from my site in a single day, but two people should be able to
pull 20Mb or so per day?? Just I'd need to know ASAP when the files are
safely elsewhere so I could make room for the next download batch on my
list.

Since I don't have a job, and since I do give a snit, I figure it's the
least I can do ... but it will take everyone working together.

I suggest you guys fight over who is gonna do what, and then start using
Arachne chat to pass the word as to what's on the list & what has been
taken by whom as that day's responsibility. I say Arachne chat because
it is more "real time" than the mailing list; you know that mail can go
by whatever route it chooses between two spots and I could get mail 5
hours after some other guy already got it ... whereas the chat channel
is there, and if you post there I can see it within a few second, and
visa versa.

I'm watching & waiting for guidance. It has to be done SOON, but it
will be worth the time spent to get it organized ... we're less likely
to have duplication of effort or things falling through the cracks with
just a little planning and cooperation ... but that statement is, as
always, IMNSHO };>
