What if you are just forwarding a joke to someone and many of
the recipient's friends and relatives have also received the
same joke and are forwarding the same?  Just because it is the
same message being sent to the same person doesn't necessarily
mean that it is spam.  The recipient might even be interested
in learning that the joke is really getting around and it is
now getting quite old.
