It is not reported as virus or worm when scanned with a version
of F-PROT having virus definition files dated July 19, 2001

Maybe it was sent to you by someone using a faked AOL
address.  This HTML/JAVA(?) message is obviously spam.
You can easily tell by the phrases seen within it.

Maybe the purpose of the Java(?) crap is to confuse
analysis by spamcop.  I would suggest you send the
entire original message with complete headers to
spamcop to see what happens.
