Hi Eric, LD;

Arachne keeps a copy of arachne.cfg in memory and writes it back to the
file whenever you change anything - or more importantly - whenever you
access an internal page where you MIGHT change something. This means the
.cfg file gets re-written a LOT more than you might suspect.

Different versions of Arachne seem to like to corrupt the buffer in which
the .cfg copy is kept for reasons which seem to be different for each
version. It's possible that some versions of Insight also keep and corrupt
a copy of A.cfg which will be re-written to the file whenever you make a
change to your mail setup. Whether it writes that file even if you DON'T
make changes is unknown to me right now.

Insight is a separate program from Arachne and must be considered separately
as a possible culprit. WWWMAN is also separate but I don't think it writes to
Arachne.cfg.
