A disadvantage of this system is that it doesn't tell you who sent the virus to the Arachne List. I know you have learned who did it by now. Is the virus checker also supposed to prevent subscribers from *sending* viruses? Another question: Does the virus checker cause long delays between the time an email message addressed to you is received by your ISP and the time your email message becomes available for you to download? It would seem that incoming email messages would tend to be delayed for a while if all messages received by your ISP would have to be queued into the virus checker for processing before they could become available for download by the addressees. Of course I can readily recognize the benefits of having your ISP scan all incoming emails for viruses. There are probably some inherent disadvantages in having such a system in place at your ISP, otherwise almost all other ISPs would install a similar system. So far I have not developed an opinion as to whether the advantages of the system outweigh the disadvantages. Does anyone have any comments on the matter?
