An advantage of transparent GIFS is that they do not block the
background. If you want to use a GIF that would block the
background, then you should use an opaque GIF. I have worked
with some programs to change opaque GIFS into transparent ones
and vice-versa. Transparent GIFS provide you with the capability
of creating a "montage" or a "composite" image.

BTW, please don't ask me what the names of these programs are
that convert opaque GIFS to transparent GIFS and vice-versa. It
has been about five years since I have done this and I have since
forgotten the names of the programs I used. I do remember that
they were Windows programs. I don't know if there are any DOS
programs that will do this.

I could find out the names of some Windows programs that will do
this. I would just simply ask one of my former computer science
instructors at my local community college. They are the ones that
taught me how to do this stupid stuff.
