OK first of all ...

Europe regards america as an ally.
Most europeans like america. And nobody, really nobody thinks that america

There are some things, with which we do not agree, but this is normal is it

these are still big concerns. (and again bush said things that showed
exactly how he thinks -
'Hey they sponsored my elections, so now I let them do some nasty things.
Who cares about the future about climate and the rainforest'

But in the light of the new situation this is not so important.
Important is that he will act wisely, that he shows that terrorists can't
get away with such deeds, and that he does not go berserk, and starts a
war.

CV> It appears from your post that the European press feels USA is the

NOOOOOOOOOO !!!!

Sorry if you got that impression.

Europe stands behind bush.
NATO and EU and all governments stand absolutely behind him.

But the press and the people (who also stand behind him) fear his reaction.

Europeans think that bush has a very small IQ. (it's common believe here ..
i don't want to say if it's true or not ... but that is what people
believe)

Europe has another culture.

Such strong words like bush said them in his first days caused much fear.

A simple mind, who nut fully understands the situation, but has enormous
amounts of power behind him, can be a security risk.

So again:
full support from european governments
full support from the people
and also fear from most people that the reaction could be wrong, which
would trigger another catastrophy.

What we would like to see is a worldwide coalition against the terrorists.
What most fear is america going alone, and starting another catastrophy.

Again europeans support america, and nobody sees the satan in america.

CV> Just because their economy seems to drive the world's markets ?
this is not bad ...
europe trades huge amounts of goods with america, and this is good for us,
and good for america.

CV> Is there some concern in Europe regarding the freedoms enjoyed by
CV> Westerners ? Freedom from religion, freedom to dress as you wish,
CV> freedom of expression in religious/political/sexual matters ?
no ...
europe also has these freedoms.

CV> Does Europe also wish us to return to the Dark Ages ?
no way !

the only thing were america is more liberal than europe is when weapons
(guns ...) are concerned.

And most europeans absolutely are behind these restrictions.

Many europeans consider the death penalty as a remaining thing from the
dark ages.

CV> Do Europeans in general feel the west, and USA in particular, applies

no ... most europeans support AI when fighting against the death penalty,
or the situation in some american prisons.

CV> Is it bothersome that the English language, the language of the great
CV> satan, permeates all aspects of life everywhere except France ?
There are some who are concerned, but they don't blame the UK or the US,
but instead their own folk, who uses english.
Nobody forced them to use english, so they can't blame another country.

CV> How about the internet and television that both seem to emanate from
 CV> the west ?
we consider ourselfs WEST as well.
even most parts of east europe have near western living niveau now.

CV> What have I forgotten ? The fact that GW Bush jr is a moron ?
yes ... this affects many of us.

But we don't blame america for this.
We simply don't understand why he has been elected.
But it is a matter of fact that it was a democratic election, so we have to
accept it.

Until now most europeans couldn't care less.
Now they are a bit afraid of how he will react.

CV> Is that what bothers the world ? It should bother the USA more than

I agree

CV> The US president isn't all powerful. He's not a king or dictator.
CV> There are cooler heads in the office. Probably not cool enough, but

generally I agree.

CV> The best possible response is NO response.
I don't agree ... there shoudl be a response.
but it should be reasonable, well thought out, and it should not pour oil
into the fire.

CV> Please tell us how to re-program a religious zealot.
I would love to ... but I don't know it myself.
But I'm sure that it will take time.
Anything that goes rapidly will not work.
