Did that offending message appear on this Arachne list? No POP3 abend with me, using UKA_PPP 1.7x2 aka NOS-BOX 2.05. If the offending message was not downloaded successfully before the abend, it ought to be possible to get that message via telnet before deleting. If the message was number 7 in a total of 50, I believe the commands would be retr 7 (or is it 'get'?) dele 7 quit but you would have to have a way of capturing the screen output.
