The last word from Michael came on 3 June, which
was this:
I am planning to continue Arachne development, and
to release cross-platform portability layer (will
be called "Flowerpot") as open source (LGPL), so
other authors can write cross-platform, net-enabled
aplications too, or even write plugins for Arachne,
capable of using crossplatfrom TCP/IP and GUI
capability of Flowerpot.
Arachne itself will become platform-independent,
because all platfrom dependency will be buried in
ports of Flowerpot library for various platforms.
I take this to mean that Arachne is undergoing a
major transformation which may take some time.
I agree though that a word every now and then about
how it's progressing would be nice.
