I listers, You will already know that This PC uses W95. Arachne is started by the "spider.ikn" from the desktop, and is configured to hand over all system resources to Arachne, and run her in a full size dos window.
It all work's very well but waiting 45 seconds for windoze to boot, is an inconvienence. I've been trying a few experiments. I have disabled the windoze GUI by changing the atribute BootGUI=0 in msdos.sys and starting Arachne from autoexec.bat, I had to add CTMOUSE as well. As this machine is only used for internet access using Arachne this is a nice way to go. Much quicker boot, and if I ever want to use the GUI, just type WIN. This work's 99%, the only funny is that in Arachne's desktop if I click the "my computer" ikon, it results in a hard lock up. (every time) Resetting msdos.sys GUI=1, so everything back as before, starting W95 and using W95 dos prompt, after starting Arachne (a.bat) from the command line, the "my computer" ikon results in a blank grey page. Very strange. I don't seem to be able to use the "my computer" icon without a problem unless I run Arachne in windoze, in a full size dos window as before.
