You will probably find the transition to Linux more comfortable if you alias the most common DOS commands to their Linux equivalents. This enables you to use Linux without the recurring 'oops' (except for the /). It also helps to use a prompt that shows the current directory (as in DOS). BasicLinux does these things by default.
