Hello All, I'm very new to this list, and look forward to learning from you all.
A friend of mine in Texas has been feeding me sites for Dos as I expressed an interest in getting back to it. The following is the site I got the most use out of: http://www.ctyme.com/msdos7.htm I have been running Windows98 for sometime, but messed with duel boot systems and all, wanting to do some dos stuff. I edited the MSDOS.SYS file by Changing the line to BootGUI=0. Then add a line LOGO=0. Rebooted the system and it came up at the Dos C: prompt. To get to Windows you type in win. So, I run Windows98 on the C; drive and dos stuff on the D: drive. Both of my drives are 32 bit. The system is an AMD 1gig CPU, with 512megs of Sdram home brew. I installed the Arachne browser, and it did not like my PCI modem, so I installed my 56k ISDN modem. Arachne picked that right up. I installed ctmouse, and that works fine for the track ball. I got it all configured and working, but it would lock up on me. Then I downloaded djpeg.exe as per some instructions, and made the changes in the mime.cfg file. The browser no longer locks up, but some of the pictures are blank. The browser is very fast as I have the cache writing to my 128meg ramdisk. I have had the browser setup on a 16bit drive using DR-Dos, and it was all ok. Can the system handle a 32bit drive and a 16bit drive on the same PC with the setup I have? Any thoughts would be apreciated. Regards, Bob ----------------------------- T H E F R A S E R S http://thefrasers.com This site is dedicated to all people of the name FRASER and - SCOTLAND-
