I have often found that you can use Arachne with a WinModem If you first boot to Windows and then click on START > SHUTDOWN > RESTART IN MS-DOS MODE. The WinModem will not work if you boot up directly to MS-DOS real mode, neither will it work in a "DOS box" from within Windows.
