Greetings-
Well I formatted and repartioned my HD on the laptop and installed
basiclinux 1.61 with no problems. I did that last night and finished
around midnight. I edited the /etc/rc.d/rc.S file and now I can start
the modem just my typing ppp-on. I thought I had mail configured to not
keep mail on the POP thing, but this evening when I check the mail, I am
getting lots of repeat messages. I will double check the settings. I
am used to Pine, and have no problem deleting mail, but so far with BL
mail, I have been deleting mail through MC. I bet there is a simpler
way....
I downloaded the five file for adding X to BL. One problem I have is
figuring out about my monitor and video card for the laptop. I just
guessed. When I typed startx, I got an error message which I didn't
write down but it had something to do with something missing from /bin.
I did have a problem downloading so maybe I need to do that one again.
I will try startx and write down what I get and post it to the group.
Cheers and thanks for the tips. I have finally got smart and bought a
binder and now I am putting all my dos/linux notes in there.
