Question:

Can you connect with any DOS internet applications when using
PocketDOS?

I have XTCE, a DOS emulator for my Phillips Velo I, a handheld
computer running Windoze CE, version 1.0. It is so named because
it enables you to pretend that you are running an XT machine
having floppy drives and a hard drive. I can download DOS programs
from my desktop computer to my CE device where I can run them with
XTCE. I have found that I cannot connect with any DOS internet
applications with the emulator, even when I hook up the CE device
to a real external modem. Otherwise, this is a very nice emulator
and one can pretend to be running any version of DOS on it, including
even DR-DOS. One may install the image file from any DOS version
into the emulator. XTCE is functional shareware with a delay screen
and a timeworm that will make the emulator inoperable upon the
expiration of the trial period. Paying a registration fee of about
$10 will get you a registration key that will remove the delay
screen and disable the time worm. I registered my XTCE. There are
versions of XTCE for almost any kind of Windoze CE device. I don't
have the URL for the download site handy. It is bookmarked on my
WIN 95 machine, but I don't want to suffer the pain of having to
use Windows for the mere purpose of hunting for a URL that I could
probably find more quickly simply by doing a google search with
Arachne.
