Yes, tell your friends that they should drop MSN and AOL
and advise them to subscribe to a real ISP.  Also you should
advise them against using any email client program that does
not adhere to the standard RFCs.

The problem is not with oddball email addresses.  The problem
is with oddball ISPs and oddball email client programs and with
other oddball software that your friends are using.  It isn't
your problem.  The problem is theirs.  You could help them if
they would just listen to you.  If these friends of yours are
just typical windozers, don't expect them to pay any attention
to your efforts at correcting them and trying to lead them in
the right direction.
