Samuel meant the Domain Naming System by saying "Internet"
and this actually is hirarchically organized ...

The DNS root servers are.

And with upcoming IPv6 (alias IPnG) it will be very hard to remember IP
addresses. (mine looks like this 3ffe:0b80:0002:64e0:0000:0000:0000:0002 )
[OK ... in the abbreviated form it's a bit better 3ffe:b80:2:64e0::2 )

Many services depend on the DN System ...
and it sadly has many, many flaws
