Hello Fellow Arachnoids:

When using an internet work station in a public library or at a
cyber cafe it would be nice if we were provided with some kind
of Telnet access. Unfortunately, most public access machines
do not have a Telnet client program installed.

I am aware of some web sites that have online Java Applets being
Telnet clients which are purportedly very useful for connecting
to Telnet services. I hesitate to use any one of those Java Applet
Telnet programs because of security concerns. Would the web site
be able to capture everything I do during my Telnet session, to
include login usernames and passwords?

Most people including myself are paranoid about Java because it is
so easily employable for evil and malicious purposes. Another
reason why most people are paranoid about Java is that most of us
don't understand Java. Most people will very generally accept as a
very wise axiom, and one that applies to everything we do, the old
saying that "if you don't know what it does, don't mess with it".

Do we know what these Telnet Java Applets do? Are they safe?
