(note the first 2 lines of the above section) > You can't sell on eBay without an eBay money account, btw. Second one first. ;-) Yahoo mail and yahoo groups *do* have httpS "mirrored" on http(no S) So... F4,F7(https)/remove 'S',F2 works to access them. In addition: *IF* Michael decides that my "https2http" feature is worth including in the next version. *Then* the above editing will not be needed. (it does it automatically) First section second. ;-) I have not as et found a workaround for eBay account setup. (they do not "mirror httpS on http) :(( But...... I was able to use Lynx to setup my account. (currently attempting to sell my old Lexmark 4076) Item #2016642169 So, no windows needed.... no Linux needed. :))) > You may know what Sword of Shanarra is worth on the market, or to you. > But when I'm bidding on things like scanners & digital cameras, I want > the full info from the manufacturer -- and I can't get it using Arachne > because of javascript. I'll go see if I can find a workaround at tripplite. _____ OK, I'm back from http://www.tripplite.com/ No workaround was needed. It works fine. Every page I tried worked without problems. (all 12 pages saved from my cache uploaded to: http://www.angelfire.com/id/glenndoom/tripplit.htm ) [if you get the Angelfire error page... link to "Go Back") However, If you got the same thing I got.... I can see how you might have though that nothing was being displayed. If you have images turned off. All that will show at the top of each page is the one HUGE "image block". You can't see a d**m thing without scrolling down. :(( > I have bought on Amazon.com a couple of times, and I think I used > Arachne. However, I cannot access Science Fiction Book Club on line or > Barnes & Noble to order anything without [you guessed it] https. Tripplite is a "go"... Now I'll go check-out scifi book club. :) ______ OK, enough for now. ;-) This one will require some more work. I got all the way through to entering my billing address and hit a "brick wall". :((( Every time I hit "continue"... the billing address page came back up. (but the information WAS received because it was till filled-in) I'll continue the diagnosis of the problem later. > Yes, some day Arachne may be able to handle Javascript and Flash5 and > secure socket transactions ... but I highly doubt it will be on the DOS > platform. No problem. :)) http://www.google.com/grphp?hl=en (works great in Arachne) > I'm a broad, but not a dumb broad. Agreed, you are by NO MEANS a "dumb broad". In fact, over the years I've come to know you as being quite intelligent. However.... I have also come to know that you *are* very stubborn at times. <VBG> (almost as stubborn as me) Rest assured. I *will* find a way to enroll in the SFBC. If not with Arachne.... then I'll do it with Lynx. :)) But I will *NOT* use Wincrap. <VBG> > Funny thing... give everyone a grin maybe: There are things that > Arachne can do which NS4.6 on Win3.1 cannot do. That one requires JS. :((( I guess I'll just have to enter the SW via snail mail and forget about their "online games". <VBG> > I use whatever works right now, often mailing pages to myself > to be opened in whichever browser can handle them. If you want to: "just have one browser that *works* for the entire web" Please, consider Linux instead of dozeware. If you can do dozeware... you can do *this*. :))) http://www.angelfire.com/id/glenndoom/images.htm (linux.gif) > Give me credit for one thing at least, even when my sanity is in doubt: > I continue to use a computer and software, rather than letting the > software and computer use/abuse me. <G> I *do* give you lots of credit for *that*. :))) -- Glenn http://arachne.cz/ http://www.delorie.com/listserv/mime/ http://www.angelfire.com/id/glenndoom/download.htm http://www.thispagecannotbedisplayed.com/
