SSHDOS is a stand-alone WATTCP.CFG program. You can use it even if you don't have Arachne or any other DOS internet application installed. SSHDOS is a secure replacement for DOS Telnet, but it works only on sites where SSH protocol is running at the host site. The SSHDOS.APM from the Arachne web site will work for getting into my free Unix shell account at "sdf.lonestar.com". Here is a screen capture of a very recent session when using the Arachne APM: ======== begin screenshot ======== Caldera DR-DOS 7.02 Copyright (c) 1976, 1998 Caldera, Inc. All rights reserved. When I get in, the interface at the site looks and works the same as though I had gotten in by using Telnet. I don't normally use the Arachne APM. The APM you get from the Arachne web site is SSHDOS, version 0.4.b2. The version I normally use is SSHDOS, version 0.91 by Nagy Daniel. It was a free download from somewhere. I forgot the URL. The more recent version has more command line options and the download package comes with a file transfer utility named SCPDOS. I haven't done SCPDOS yet. If anyone can use it and get it to work please post your story. > Arachne says that SSHDOS is installed, but I don't find it anywhere > usable from Arachne. The Arachne APM isn't usable from within Arachne. To use it you either have to shell to DOS or get out of Arachne and not hang up. Optionally, you could call SSHDOS from within Arachne if you were to write and set up a simple OOK file for it. > How would I get the "T" hotkey to call SSHDOS instead of the other > telnet client? I don't think you would want to do that. You will still need to use an ordinary standard Telnet client for connecting to sites where SSH protocol is not running at the host end. Always run SSH to get into every site where you can use it. SSH is much more secure than Telnet. SSH is even easier to use than Telnet because you can call it from a batch file menu prepared for getting into all of your favorite sites.
