Wouldn't it make a lot more sense to market MP3's and DVDs like
shareware?  They could simply require the users of the MP3's and
DVDs to go online and pay for a registration code that would unlock
the software.  That generally works for protecting registered
versions of shareware.  The same or similar type of scheme should
work for protecting the copyrights of musicians and movie producers.
