L.D.,

I, too, have been having trouble with Google appending "ext:anyfile" to the
search string. This has occurred ever since Google added the file type to
the preference page. Numerous e-mails to Google have not resolved the
problem, which, I think, is that Google appends with a "+", "ext:anyfile"
instead of using an "&".

Another problem with Google:

Using Arachne 1.68, I get a, "sent illegal command" from Google, but, using
1.70R3, I can get on Google's advanced search page without any trouble,
except the "ext:anyfile."

A workaround with 1.68 is to go to Yahoo and use their search, which uses
Google.

Just tested Google with 1.70R3 and I can access it (advanced search) without
problem.
