Dear List:
I just had to have a little whinge about Linux. James totally failed to
get Debian running this week, and gave up on Redhat 5.2 when it would only
give 640 x 480, even after declaring the chipset etc. 6.1 seem sto be working
at last.
Meanwhile I tried Monkey Linux as it shares DOS filesystem and is less
likely to leave me in the dark.
It unarjed OK but fell over with kernel panic and could not see the HDD
which I admit was an MFM drive I had dissassembled, oiled and
reformatted.
OK, so I tried again with a pentium 1 machine with IDE drive.
Same problem!
Hero James then noticed that hda was missing and found the IDE cable in
the wrong place on the mother board. Did not bother DOS!
Linux seems very literal about things.
Anyway, I am still getting over the shock of being able to look at files
in XTREE or Midnight Commander.
Bye
Kali
