It's not out of commission.

Just do a "bare boot".

On most machines,
Press and hold the ESC key as soon as the 'beep' sounds to
indicate that your OS is about to load.

Check several posible keys if ESC does not do the job.

It might be the SHIFT key instead.
Or perhaps the F1 or F2 key.

But whichever key it turns-out to be.

This will boot the system without config.sys and autoexec.bat

Now you can edit that line from config.sys and put in the correct ones.

MY ZIP is also the P-port model.

These are the drivers which "fake" the P-port as being a SCSI interface.
(they are located on the install ZIPdisc that came with the ZIPdrive)

rem ZIP DRIVE
DEVICEHIGH=C:\IOMEGA\ASPIPPM1.SYS  FILE=PC873EPP.ILM SPEED= 10
DEVICE=C:\IOMEGA\ASPIPPM2.SYS FILE=NIBBLE2.ILM SPEED=10 Quiet
DEVICE=C:\IOMEGA\ASPIIDE.SYS Scan Info Quiet
DEVICE=C:\IOMEGA\SCSICFG.EXE /V
DEVICE=C:\IOMEGA\SCSIDRVR.SYS
SET SCSI_DRIVER = C:\IOMEGA
SET SCSI_UTILITY = C:\IOMEGA

If you don't have these files.
Let me know and I'll be more than happy to send them to you.

The above section might be different in your case.

The ZIPdisk also ncludes a Dos setup utility to place the correct lines
into your config.sys file.

No CD-ROM ????

No problem. :))

rem-out the lines in config.sys and autoexec.bat which load it.

But... if you use a setup something like I indicated in those sample
config.sys and autoexec.bat files.
You won't need to rem-out those lines.

Even with everything loaded.
You'll still have plenty of memory left for anything you need to run.
