X-swap errors only happen in Arachne :-)
because x-swap is an arachne invention.

They are caused by bugs in arachne.

x-swap errors only occur because of the crappy memory handling in real-mode.
(in real mode you can only access 1 MB)
A DJGPP version of arachne would get rid of x-swap and therfor x-swap errors,
because it uses the protected mode, and this has a 32 bit flat memory modell.

It's generally not DOS that causes problems. (except drdos emm386 and its DPMI
provision which is still buggy)
