Hi Glenn, >> Thanks again Glenn, you're a trooper.

What? the problem is that you're a trooper? :-) > Heck, even MS-Dos itself has problems with FAT32 and LFS when you boot > directly to Dos and not via W98-shutdown-restart-in-dos-mode. > Since I have deleted W98 from this machine, I'll need to go get the > other machine from the storage shed to test this theory. > (maybe tomorow) <g> Please, don't contaminate yourself for my sake! I spent the whole afternoon farting around with the problem to see if I could say anything else useful, and I can! -- I was wrong about things working perfectly after quiting window$ -- they don't. It seems that what happens is that when I run Arachne under doze, whatever list of drives is found is somehow saved by her. After quitting to DOS, I can call up 'your computer' just fine, and access all drives with no problem. This continues to be the case even after a power down and re-start. But if I hit the reload 'washing machine' button while at the 'accessible drives' screen, she hangs. I *can* use the reload button for any drive, including FAT32, RAM drives, subst'ed drives and CDROM's while logged onto that drive alone, though. The only thing Arachne can't do under DOS is update a list of all the drives at once. BTW, Taking a sugestion from someone on the list a few days ago, I downloaded the novafont.zip file from Alejandro Lieber's site. This loads a Sans-serif replacement DOS font that I'm already much prefering over the built in one. It only takes 5376 Bytes of upper memory and is trouble free so far; highly recomended. Thank's Alejandro. Ray Andrews, Vancouver, Canada -- Arachne V1.71;UE01, NON-COMMERCIAL copy, http://arachne.cz/
