Help! Is there anyone out there who has had experience with
using a FlashPath floppy adapter for reading SmartMedia
cards from a digital camera into the computer?

I am having some difficulty. The SmartMedia cards work OK in the
camera and I can re-display photos I have taken.

I have installed the supplied FlashPath driver in WIN98 and a
small green icon appears in the lower right-hand corner of the Windows
screen (next to the time). When the SmartMedia is in the FlashPath
floppy and the floppy is in the drive, when I click on the icon,
I get a two-option menu: "(A:) Diskette" and "About".
Clicking on the former produces no effect. The latter produces
an info screen saying "FlashPath Monitor v. 3.60.04".
Trying to access drive A: by clicking "My Computer" and "A:" produces
an info screen saying "SmartMedia error" and the green icon turns gray.
Subsequent tries produce an "A:\ is not accessible" message. After
rebooting, clicking "Programs:Flashpath:SmartMedia Format" also produces
the error message turning the icon gray.
Although the FlashPath floppy is new, I checked the batteries and
they are OK.

Is there something obvious that I'm missing? Otherwise I can only
conclude that the hardware is defective. Any help would be
appreciated.

I have downloaded a driver for LINUX (designed for RH6.1) but have not yet
attempted to install it.
