I have two installs of arachne on different operating systems. One of them is 1.71ue on DRDOS 7.03 (on a stacker-compressed drive). The other one is 1.70r3 on Win98.
1.71ue on DRDOS works fine. No trace of the "My Computer" bug 1.70r3 on win98 locks up tight when pressing "My Computer" icon or "\\" . I run arachne in plain DOS, (win 98 bootGUI deactivated in MSDOS.SYS, so the machine will fall back to the DOS prompt at startup). No other drivers or TSR's are loaded, apart from SmartDrive and the CD-ROM driver (but NOT MSCDEX, which causes the apparition of a "ghost" drive in windows). Should this be a cause for the bug? I'll dig further into it this evening, testing different configurations. (i.e with MSCDEX or without the CDROM driver). C.B.
