no....it is "Your Computer" and works in MSDOS5.0, DRDOS5.0, DRDOS6.0,
MSDOS6.22, OpenDOS7.01, DRDOS7.03, and OS/2DOSv.300andearlier...
Bastiaan has something peculiar to his system(s) which no one else on
the list is able to duplicate. Are you now telling us that you can
duplicate this problem on your computer(s)....???
If so, we need to question you the same way we are starting questioning
Bastiaan, so we can nail this problem down, and get rid of it, or make
sure WARNINGS are posted around it..

"My Computer" is only found in Win9x+...."Your Computer" is in Arachne.
...I believe you are talking about the Arachne "Your Computer"....??
..and is this only on Bastiaan's computer(s) or is it broke on your
computer(s), also...??

....is this "Your Computer".. broken on your machine(s), too.??

We need to clarify this...

If this is confirmed, on Bastiaan's machine, and on your machine, then
it looks like an incompatibility in the DOS, or at least a difference
between the Win9x internalDOS, and the DOS being used outside Win9x

What clicking on "Your Computer" or clicking on "\\" or doing an
ALT-F2 does is tells Arachne to do a "shell-out-to-DOS" operation.
If it fails, that indicates that the underlieing DOS is not accepting
the command from Arachne. It does not like the special character
used as a command character, or the command is not formatted correctly.
But...most DOSes fail "gracefully"...that is, they do not lockup the
whole computer/Arachne...they just refuse to do the command, fail, and
kick you back into Arachne, or, at worst, to a command prompt with the
"Command or filename not recognized" ERROR message...
In Bastiaan's case...the underlieing DOS is locking up...no graceful
failure..
