Laugh if you want, but think ... and pass the word.
As I was watching yet another butterfly promoting "companion surfing" on
my TV screen, a great realization of TRUTH came to me.
I know why M$ came out of the monopoly court cases smelling like a rose.
They sold us out to the Feds.
It makes perfect sense: M$ tells the Feds about all the backdoors it
can put in its software, shows them things like the "surf with a friend"
which would allow a third party at a remote site, or even a bot, to
"surf along invisibly." M$ points out that if they go "open source" or
have to parcel out their software, other people will get their hands on
that information and that ability. And thus said unknown third parties
could a) inform the public of what was going on or b) actually crack
into Federal computer systems running Windows software. Thus, the
suggestion might go something like this: Allow us to keep our tight
monopoly and closed source, and we'll provide the Federal Government
with the software tools to spy on everyone using Microsoft Windows.
Considering the current political climate here in the USA, and
considering the gentle feather-light slap on the wrist Microsoft
received, and considering the new "wonderful programs" Microsoft is now
releasing to the public FREE, I can see no other logical conclusion.

P.S. This is one time I really truly wish I were wrong, but my gut
tells me it ain't so. :~(
