This is the file I have just now extracted from xpdf091.apm
 Volume in drive L is MS-RAMDRIVE
 Directory of  L:\ARACHNE
PDFTOTEX EXE   142760 10-04-00  9:55p

Do you get the same file when you extract your copy of xpdf091.apm

If not... the you might have an incomplete download of the APM
