I still have one of my ration books left ... but being a kidlet at the
time I don't think it had gas ration coupons ...

DRAT! Can't find *my* ration book ... found one of my grandmas!
Special authorization for extra 23!! pounds of sugar ... certificate
copy (1 of 3) in the "War Ration Book No.3" Three intact pages with
all stamps 1 - 48 on each page, 1 page with stamps 1, 2 & 3 removed.
I have an idea why she managed to get so much sugar; she always grew a
garden as long as I can remember, and it was she who first taught me how
to "put up" peaches. I imagine she was making preserves from fruit of
every tree on her property and probably a bunch of neighbors too.

Strange, it has her name, address, age, physical description and
occupation (housewife) but no date anywhere. The sugar purchase
authorization was "Not valid before 8-11-42" ... 3 months 1 day before I
was born.

l.d.

P.S. I also found, neatly folded & stored in a cedar cigar box a dozen
100% cotton lady's fancy printed in many colors handkerchiefs. Never
used ... <G>
