Hi, I am James, Kali's partner. I like OS/2. I installed Arachne under
Warp 4, and found it to be perfectly usable and sprightly. Don't forget
to go into the properties box, select DOS Settings, and give arachne
full access to the com port. Select Direct access, restrict to specific
com port.
Note OS/2 can bugger up com ports - if the mouse is in the wrong place,
it can 'own' all com ports, & not release them ! This si, however, quite
avoidable !
OS/2 Warp 4 has been released publicly for free at least in Australia on
the cover CD of APC ( Australian Personal Computer July 2000 edition.
Therefore, paying money for it is unnecessary.

It is an excellent upgrade. Do have at least 16 Mb for reasonable
performance. By the way, I got a really nice spider icon came up
automatically for arachne !

IBM Web explorer is crap.

OS/2 DOS emulation is FASTER than DOS DOS emulation. The only drawback
with using arachne under OS/2 is that the TCP/IP is not shared across
the system. I.E if you get Netscape 4.76, use IBM's alternate dialler,
you can ftp, telnet, ping etc all at once. Of course, a properly setup
arachne supports ftp, telnet and ssh anyway, so ok!

Boo Hiss. Internet Exporer is a portal for Microsoft funny business.
Netscape is much nicer if you really must.
By the way, I had this experience - turn off cookies in both IE4 and
Netscape 4. IE4 could still use the site that demanded cookies - it did
not obey my request - sneaky microsoft back doors - ....
