Hi All, My Arachnes (1.66 and 171) can no longer render jpgs, but gifs are still ok. All I get now is a file name in the upper left corner, and sometimes an error message about SOS jpeg sequencing being invalid, with a broken- up picture. Whereas before I added a Trident 8900C video card, windoze browsers and all my W95 graphics apps. rendered terrible pictures and arachne shone; now W95 apps render fine.
I changed my video setup because I thought the S3 video setup built into the motherboard had gone bad. Now I'm pretty sure that's not the case, but if I take the new card out and plug my monitor into the motherboard outlet again, I don't get any video whatsoever. I never reset any jumpers though and the added video card worked right away. I don't have any specs for my DEC Venturis 575 motherboard, to alter jumpers anyway. On a related note, I tried installing Linux (RH 7.0) and as you probably guessed "No X". Even command line "xf86config" couldn't budge the old S3 out of the way. Is there any help? I'd hate to be stuck with windoze. John V
