In order for me to do this I must be a subscriber to an extra service apart from my regular cellular service in order to transmit and recieve data. The extra service costs an additional fee, $6.95 per month in my case. This service works only when I am in an area where I am receiving a digital signal from the communication towers and in a zone which is networked into the special service. If I am in an area where I can receive only an analog signal from the communication towers I can use my cellular phone for voice communications, but I cannot transmit and receive data. My cell phone is a digital one having an "analog fallback" feature. There is an indicator on the display which tells me whether I am in a digital or anlog zone. I believe that all Ericson cell phones are for digital communications only. You should be able to use it to get on the interenet if your cell phone provider offers the special data service and you elect to become a subscriber to the extra service.
