Hi Alejandro, I asked this question several months ago (via several DOS lists) and got some good looking answers. Technically, it looks very possible. It is simply a matter of doing a lot of tweaking, but the basic code simply sent and verified data ... an easy DOS task.
Several people sent links to some programs, but I got caught up in a few projects ... ran out of floor space to dedicate to that issue ... etc., and didn't follow up. I can look up all those links if nobody has them handy. I'll wait a few days, then start digging. Meanwhile, make plans to try it. I've got a small pile of 486s that would make good candidates for that upgrade and would be happy to see it work out.
