So, if you have a machine running DOS with NO modem on
it, and NO fax software anywhere in the house, you can
be sending a fax out in 5 minutes? I'm impressed. ;-)

See, you've already got a head start. ;-)

The e-mail was one of those that came in text/html.
I exported if from PINE to text, made the changes with my
standard editor, pico, and sent if off.
'fax' is part of the efax package, and automatically
changes text to the required G3 TIFF format before handing
it off to 'efax' which actually does the dialing and
sending. If you have files already in G3 TIFF, you can just
'efax' them. With any other file format, you need to use
'fax' to get them converted first.

Take the modem out of/off your machine and put it in some
other room. Throw away all fax software that's in your
house, and delete all fax software from your computer.
Ready? Go!

How long to send a fax? ;-)
> Oh, I did understand correctly, you mentioned EFax??
efax is just the name of the package. Actually the whole
name of the one I downloaded is efax-0.9-4.src.rpm. It
dials out over a modem and has nothing to do with e-mailing
a fax. The Description:
Efax is a small ANSI C/POSIX program that sends and
receives faxes using any Class 1, 2 or 2.0 fax modem.

Yup, that's something completely different.
