Hello Bastiaan, Eighteen months ago I got a parallel port Datafab compact flash card reader/writer from an eBay auction. They were being sold off at that time, and there are none on eBay right now. I guess anyone needing to transfer and check digicam snaps "in the field" is expected to use a new USB-equipped laptop instead of an adequate machine running PaintShopPro in Win3.1x or Photodex SEA in DOS.
The parallel port card reader DOES have drivers for DOS/Win3.1 and Win9x. I'm not sure if you already have one, but if not, a PCMCIA card reader would be bound to be more expensive and difficult to find, and would also need socket services for DOS, which are quite difficult to find for download if you don't want to pay e.g. Cardsoft. This enabling of PCMCIA is built in to Win9x+ and USB is the M$ way of favouring peripheral manufacturers who fill the equipment needs of those with "legacy free" PCs. Best regards, Jake Young
