Gee it's nice to be back again! My previous ISP stuffed up my account, and cut me off, then wouldn't answer my snailmails. I saw them today -- they had been ringing me but hanging up when they got the answering machine. What do they think I have it there for.... duhhh!
Anyway they had decided that they had already spent more on the matter than it was worth and have cleared my account. That suited me, as apart from them "losing" a $1.01 credit at the beginning of June, the rest was near enough. So I ended up ahead by about $7.50 plus whatever usage i had in July. But I made sure they gave me a bit of paper to say my account stood at zero when it was finalised! Now, a problem with Arachne: Since I am now with another ISP, I needed to update my homepage. But each time I try to edit the offline copy by pressing F4, Arachne dials out, logs on to my new ISP, then connects me to my external editor. A machine reboot seems to be the only way to get out of the editor, as exiting it causes Arachne to switch me straight back in without a chance to alt-H to hang up, or Alt-X to quit Arachne. It seems that Arachne is not corrupted as comparing all the .EXE files with a new set installed in an alternate subdirectory shows no differences. The .CFG files don't seem to have anything different from what I had previously, other than the things that needed to be changed when going to a new ISP. Please note that after commenting out the "Editor" line in ARACHNE.CFG, pressing F4 brings up the internal editor and everything works just fine. I can even press the "External Editor" button, and use the external editor, and that is fine too. But I do realise that this gets to the ext-editor by a different route. I'm at a loss...
