Catching up after an awesome but exhausting weekend... Richard L. Hamilton wrote: > Where do you draw the line?
I'd draw several. one line (thin and easy to cross) between everyone who has an itch to scratch and a wide open repository. Maybe on genunix, maybe the experimental mypkg.opensolaris.org... Another between that and the "usual" OpenSolaris consolidations (SFW, JDS...) that is harder to cross. This line needs answers to questions like "Why does it need to be here?", "What big rules does it support/violate, and how well does it take advantage of the various features found in OpenSolaris?".... Maybe one of the questions is one of "support", but I question whether such a thing is in scope for *ARC* review; is support a community thing or a distro-specific or company-specific thing? A final thick, black, stinky line between that and the core of our system (ON,...) that won't let you in unless you can justify, prove or ...whatever... that your stuff MUST become a part of the core. The default response is biased towards "no", and the expectation is that there won't be more than tens of these per year... -John
