I couldn't build for x86_64, so if someone could do that it would be
great.

While buiding the x86_64 package (I haven't committed it yet), I noticed
that it creates a /usr/local/man/ directory. Shouldn't that be
/usr/local/share/man for FSH compliance?

Looks like we need a symlink:
http://www.pathname.com/fhs/pub/fhs-2.3.html#USRLOCALSHARE1

The below patch would work and would link /usr/local/share/man ->
../man (aka /usr/local/man). This is acceptable under the FHS, and
although I would probably prefer the symlink go the other way, this
change will prevent any problems from changing an existing possibly
non-empty directory into a symlink, so is the much easier route.

I didn't apply this in SVN, I will wait for some feedback.

Looks good for me.
