Hello,
what is the process in deciding in archiving a package? And what are the reasons? And are there any channels where I can get notified if a package is getting archived?

I noticed that the package `vim-airline` and `vim-airline-themes` got archived - I think just recently.
Can someone tell me, why that happened?
Do packages get archived, because they got malicious?
Hello,

It’s unclear what you mean by a package getting “archived.”

If you mean a package being put in Arch Linux Archive,⁽¹⁾ this is an automated process that builds snapshots of official repos for the purpose of rolling back to a particular point in time.

If you mean a package being dropped from official repos and moved to AUR: it’s because nobody wants to maintain it anymore or it’s no longer possible to maintain it due to missing dependencies.

In neither case it has related to any kind of malware. If there was malware involved, it would obviously not be kept around.

Cheers, mpan
