Comment to the OP (and the list), given the current situation, I'll
follow up off-list if necessary:

Of all the Arch mailing lists I'm subscribed to, this only affects aur-
general. It's annoying that the whole world is getting dumber, but at
least with the low traffic, you can filter out the few "Leave" messages
or, if necessary, manually move them to the trash, they only seem so
numerous because the overall traffic is low, there aren't really that
many. We're seeing these kinds of developments all over the world right
now, from small social circles all the way up to high-level politics.
Stupidity is, after all, the trendy thing these days. Ignore it and
distance yourself from it wherever possible. It's a shame, of course,
that AUR itself is currently suffering from an extreme attack. But
people have been begging for this for years, after all, the demand for
increasingly pointless nonsense has skyrocketed. If you fill your head
with nonsense all day long, even the few side effects add up to a
serious problem because of the sheer volume. And the few people who
don't do that still have to put up with the crap from everyone else.
That's just the way it is, there are certain things people can't learn
to deal with, and by endlessly escalating measures and countermeasures,
you just fuel the spiral rather than solving the actual problem, no
matter what it is. Whether it's teaching kids in school how to use
WhatsApp "properly" or a government cutting social services to buy more
"defense weapons", it won't lead to anything except even more stupidity.
Destroying the internet is really one of the easiest things to do, since
that's exactly where the demand for stupid crap is the greatest. Do
people need the choice between millions of hours of (sometimes AI-
generated) music and movie downloads, even though the average person
lives for barely more than half a million hours?
