I'm not sure I understand the solution then.  I should completely remove
hotplug from my DAEMONS line?  (i.e., even having it there with a ! in front
of it will still run it?)  Or I should uninstall hotplug from the system
altogether?

I'm not quite sure I understand how it's getting run, by the way, given that I
don't see anywhere in my conf where I'm enabling or calling it.
