Well, if you HAD access to a terminal, you could setup a serial terminal, and would never have need of a monitor again. But, since you can't get access to one presently, and you have no idea what is going on on the box, then you are left with the option of purchasing a super cheap vid card, or pulling the drive and putting it in another box long enough to fix your problem.. then you could use a livecd, (maybe even arch install disk), chroot to your install, and try figuring out what the problem is.
>>pardon if I missed some iportant email that makes the above useless information. I joined the conversation late<< >> Hello all, >> >> I have a headless box running Arch as a Print and File server (Cups, NFS). Up until a few days ago everything was working fine. The only way I can get into this box is through ssh. Now when I try to ssh to the box it accepts the connection, prompts for passphrase, successfully authenticates me, prints the 'welcome' banner, then nothing. No shell prompt, just nothing. I can type commands but they aren't having an effect. I have to manually close the konsole, because ctrl-c doesn't work. >> >> *snip* << >> >> Any comments, ideas? >> >> Thanks, >> -d >> -- _______________________________________________ arch mailing list [email protected] http://www.archlinux.org/mailman/listinfo/arch
