Can't you do pacman -A /mnt/cd/*.pkg.tar.gz?

Dear List,
My previous install (local) of AL packages was successful. Earlier i repeated the exercise to install evolution, abiword and gnumeric but ended up with error:
mnt/cd/abiword-2.2.7-1.pkg.tar.gz: not present in "" repository
What repository is ""?
I grabbed all dependencies with 'pacman -Syup' and burned 'em in cd then took it home for install:
Targets: libglade-2.5.1-1 libart-lgpl-2.3.17-1 docbook-xml-4.1.2-2 libxslt-1.1.14-1 scrollkeeper-0.3.14-2 gnome-common-2.8.0-9 libgnomecanvas-2.10.0-1 gail-1.8.3-1 fam-2.7.0-3 orbit2-2.12.2-1 libbonobo-2.8.1-1 gconf-2.10.0-1 shared-mime-info-0.16-1 gnome-mime-data-2.4.2-1 howl-0.9.10-1 cdparanoia-9.8-4 gnome-vfs-2.10.1-1 libgnome-2.10.0-1 libbonoboui-2.8.1-2 gnome-keyring-0.4.2-1 libgnomeui-2.10.0-1 libgnomeprint-2.10.3-1 hicolor-icon-theme-0.5-1 gnome-icon-theme-2.10.1-1 libgnomeprintui-2.10.2-1 gtkhtml-3.6.2-1 libsoup-2.2.3-1 openldap-2.2.24-1 evolution-data-server-1.2.2-1 gal-2.4.2-1 evolution-2.2.2-1 enchant-1.1.6-1 abiword-2.2.7-1 libgsf-1.11.1-2 libgsf-gnome-1.11.1-1 gnumeric-1.4.3-1
Total Package Size: 44.7 MB
In the cd there is packages.txt file from the ftp.archlinux.org/current directory i copied. The gnome files i retrieved from ftp.ibiblio.org/extra.
It seems like pacman is looking for this text file everytime i do a local install. Without the file it gives out an error. (Please correct me if im wrong).
How do i get around this problem? The install wont proceed even if i rename the abiword.tar.gz to something else. As i will be doing this setup more often because im on dialup at home, please kindly advise what to do to solve this problem.
Any other good advise is welcome and appreciated. TIA.
