Hi Bob, i know that there is a fftw2 that is enabled-shared in your TUR. as long as your fftw2 is marked to conflict fftw, it is fine. pacman will know that they conflict with each other, if one of them has conflicts=() in it, no problem.
the special thing about the fftw in testing is, that it has single and
double precision versions in the pkg. i didn't know that it is possible
to have them side-by-side installed up untill some days, when Thomas Ebi
let me know providing some links. this we are tesing now.
thanx + greetings,
Damir

| Hey Damir and the gang;
| In my tur there *IS* a working version of fftw2 that is
| "enabled-shared".
| The reason for two fftws is because the API was changed to be
| incompatible with the upgrade to version 3 and some programs required
| the older API.
| So please be sure that YOUR fftw is marked to conflict with fftw2 and
| all will be fine.
| (Perhaps there is some way to make them co-resident on one system, but
| that I have not dealt with to date.)
| Thanks and....
| Very best regards;
